These indicator dyes are lipophilic cations accumulated by mitochondria in proportion to ΔΨ. WebTetramethylrhodamine, ethyl ester (TMRE) is a cell-permeant, cationic, red-orange fluorescent dye that is readily sequestered by active mitochondria.
